FAQs—BROADWAY SAN JOSE

Who is Broadway San Jose?
Broadway San Jose – A Nederlander Presentation is the new local company that will be bringing touring Broadway Musicals and events to the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, (CPA), starting September, 2009, in association with Team San Jose. For more information on Team San Jose, visit www.sanjose.org. Broadway San Jose is a part of the national Nederlander Organization, a family-owned business since 1912. For further information on Nederlander, visit www.nederlander.com.

Why are you now presenting the Broadway Musicals at the CPA?
American Musical Theatre of San Jose (AMTSJ) closed its doors last year after 73 years of serving San Jose’s community. Since that time, Team San Jose has been searching for the best long term partner to provide Broadway events to our community. Team San Jose identified the Nederlander Organization as the most qualified candidate to bring Broadway shows to San Jose.

Are you making any accommodations for former AMTSJ Season ticket holders from the 2008-2009 Season?
Broadway San Jose will be offering former 2008-2009 AMTSJ Season Ticket Holders a substantial discount to become a new ‘Priority ‘season ticket holder for the 2009-2010 Season. Former 2008-2009 AMTSJ season ticket holders will have a window of opportunity to utilize your season ticket discount, as well as to purchase priority season ticket seat locations online before the general public.

Are you affiliated with the American Musical Theatre of San Jose?
Broadway San Jose is not affiliated with AMTSJ. However, as an acknowledgement of AMTSJ subscribers’ past support for Broadway shows, Broadway San Jose has negotiated with the shows’ producers to offer special discounts and priority seating for former 2008-2009 AMTSJ season ticket holders.

As a former 2008-2009 AMTSJ subscriber, how do I get my discount and my priority seating access?
We have mailed all former 2008-2009 AMTSJ subscribers a letter including an Account I.D. Number and password that will allow you to access to the discounts and the seats. If you do NOT receive this information by June 16, 2009, please contact the Broadway San Jose Season Ticket Services Office at (866)395-2929.

As a ‘Priority’ Season Ticket Holder, will I be able to get the same seats as I had for the 2008-2009 AMTSJ Season?
Former 2008-2009 AMTSJ season ticket holders will be able to purchase tickets online, using their Account I.D. Number and password on a first-come, first serve basis, and receive the best seats available at the time of purchase. There is a possibility that original 2008-2009 AMTSJ Season ticket holder seats (or better) may be among those seats available.

Why only a “possibility” that I might get my same seats?
The 2008-2009 AMTSJ seasons included two weeks (16 performances) for each production and there were season ticket holders to each performance. The Broadway San Jose season will initially bring 8 performances of each production, so there are half the numbers of seats available for past 2008-2009 AMTSJ season ticket holders. The online purchase process will provide past 2008-2009 AMTSJ season ticket holders with choices of the best seats available at the time of purchase. These may or may not correlate to former 2008-2009 AMTSJ patrons’ seat locations.

As a former Season Ticket Holder to the 2008-2009 AMTSJ Season,
I didn’t get to see two shows for which I paid. How will Broadway San Jose handle that?

AMTSJ assets and liabilities are part of a bankruptcy process, with which Broadway San Jose is not associated. However, as an acknowledgement of former AMTSJ season ticket holders’ circumstances, Broadway San Jose is offering former 2008-2009 AMTSJ season ticket holders a larger discount than new ‘non-priority’ season ticket holders will receive.

When can I start buying season tickets?
Broadway San Jose’s inaugural 2009-2010 Season is available for purchase now – simply click here if you are a former 2008-2009 AMTSJ subscriber, and insert your Account I.D. Number and password as previously mailed to you. If you are not a former 2008-2009 AMTSJ subscriber, simply click here to purchase.
